Originally destined to undertake this amazing adventure in an ancient Toyota Coaster with a group of good mates, a series of events during the lead up to our departure saw my immediate focus shift which in-turn pushed my departure date back further and further.
With plenty of time to think, I decided to start searching for a means to catch up with the bus, enabling me to reunite with the boys and continue the trip around Australia. After many months of scouring eBay, Gumtree and Bikesales, I eventually found a motorcycle that was fit for the task at hand; a 2007 Suzuki DR650.
As time passed, so too did the small window of opportunity to depart Nambucca Heads in time to catch the bus. Picking a date to leave which would enable such a scenario to unfold was a fine balancing act of many important variables, though ultimately it just wasn't meant to be. Instead, I departed alone and made plans to catch up with mates along the way. If I caught up with the bus it would be a bonus, though not wanting to rush the trip and miss aspects of it that are important to me, I was to take my time; seeing the sights and smelling the smells along the way.
Here are my ramblings, week by week and day by day, as I process the myriad of thoughts filtering through my wandering mind; circumnavigating Australia on my motorcycle.
"The places, the people and the experiences in between."
