Week 4 | Day 27 – Friday 25th October 2013
Awake and out of bed by 7.30am, I feel as though I’ve over-slept; a bit slow-witted and numb to my surrounds. I load the remaining bags onto The DR, and by the time I’ve finished everyone is awake. We sit around chatting and drinking tea – all the while keeping baby Kashali occupied and playing with the dogs. It is so quiet and relaxing up here. A really positive place to recharge the body batteries, and Ned and Arlene could not be more hospitable and welcoming. They’re both incredibly amazing human beings and I feel privileged to have spent this time with them, and look forward to our next visit.
Getting good at goodbyes, though still mastering the mounting technique, I flick to go-button, letting the engine oil circulate before manoeuvring out onto the road. It’s already 9.30am, so we get a move-on, taking a left and heading south-west toward Mareeba where we are to meet up with Brogan. Both bikes are booked in for a fresh rear tyre fit-up; another Dunlop D606. I plan on fitting the brand new front axle I’d picked up from Suzuki the day prior, too.
